It’s June,… the weather is getting warmer, the comfy fall/winter clothes are being folded and packed away for a few months (at least here in Canada). So,… out comes the shorts and tank tops,… and the muffin top (Did I just say that?). The exciting, but dreaded (whisper) “bathing suit season” is either here or shortly on its way.
So what does this mean for you? As a woman, we all want to say we feel comfortable in our skin and that we aren’t looking at other women, comparing ourselves and wishing we “looked like them”. Come on ladies, we all do it! Yes, we all should feel comfortable in our skin,… but that means something different for every single person! Who’s willing to make the changes it takes to get there? That might not mean changing your diet or incorporating exercise. Maybe that means just getting up and moving, dancing, meditating and having positive and affirming thoughts and feelings to change your perspective. One of the tools for doing this is gratitude journaling, even if you are just writing down one thing a day that you are thankful for, your family, your pets, the sunshine, your health, your job, ability to walk, dancing, laughing… it can be anything.
What is your perspective or mindset,.. are you a positive person? Are you optimistic? Are you encouraging to others, are you generous and enthusiastic? These mindsets will all lead to confidence!
This is what we are missing in life, CONFIDENCE. Don’t get me wrong,.. I don’t mean arrogance or stroking your ego, I mean “a feeling of self-assurance arising from one’s appreciation of one’s own abilities or qualities”. If how you feel, is solely stemming from how we “look” physically, I think we have it all wrong!
When we bless others with our service by hold the door, paying it forward, giving someone our time, helping them by looking after their children so they can go on a much needed date with their spouse, or take them out for coffee/tea (drink of choice), just to get them out of the house, or take them in a coffee/tea and visit. Make them a meal, or just spend time in conversation and actually listen. This is giving! The return we receive on our end is confidence, happiness and peace.
We can all go on a diet or start that workout we have been putting off, but do we stick to it?
Helping others gives us a different mindset, which most times, leads into making healthier choices. Hopefully by helping others, you help yourself to be a better you!
My challenge to you today, is to do one “act of service” for someone you encounter for the next 30 days. It can be as simple as holding the door for a stranger, paying for the coffee for the person behind you in line or giving someone a compliment (if you are thinking something nice about someone, you should share it with them), just do something. You will be amazed at how much joy this will bring you and how you may start doing this more than once a day without even noticing. Maybe, just maybe, you will even start looking for opportunities to help others.
Make healthier choices,… not just what you are eating or exercise, but have a healthier mindset.
Make it a great day!
